December Detox Your Life | Day 8: Filter That Water

Bottled Water Isn't Good For YouDr. Bobritskiy, a homeopath, naturopath, nutritional consultant with an MD background in pediatrics, and professional Bowenwork practitioner located in Livermore, California visits with us again today.

When we asked Dr. Bobritskiy what small step we can make in our lives to help improve our health, his response was:

There are several components to our health. One of the most important components is the environment in which we live.  Six years ago I was introduced to the concept of “Wellness Home”, an idea developed by renowned Japanese wellness company Nikken.

The idea is simple; an environment that supports good health through healthy air, healthy water and good sleep.

He gives us this tip:

Tip: Drink water daily from a good filtration system for a healthier you.

As you know, our tap water is contaminated and is not good for drinking due to the many toxins found in it.  In addition to some chemicals such as arsenic, mercury, chlorine, etc. found in our tap water there are many prescription drugs that are flushed down toilets and end up in our water table as well.  We’re not only drinking these toxins our bodies are absorbing them through the skin, our largest organ, every time we shower or bathe.

If you think you are doing your body good by drinking bottled “purified” water, you’re mistaken.

Bottled water is sometimes worse than tap water because there are no regulations put in place to monitor what’s in it.  Bottled water has additional toxins because of the chemicals that are leaching into the water from the plastic. Some of these chemicals are xenohormones, a vast majority of xenohormones are man-made petrochemical products used in pesticides, cleaning agents, solvents, adhesives, emulsifiers, plastics and many other chemicals used in manufacturing and industry. They are found in food from crops sprayed with pesticides, in the out-gassing of the materials we build our homes and offices with, in cosmetics, coloring agents, in the various sprays we use to kill insects on our pets, in our homes and gardens, and in the weed killers and fungicides we use on our lawns and gardens.

Investing in a good water filtration system (such as a reverse-osmosis filtration system) is key to drinking pure, healthy water and it tastes so much better.  Take your filtered water wherever you go in a reusable stainless steel container.  It’s healthier for you and keeps the plastic bottles out of our landfills and oceans. Make sure to drink half your body weight in ounces daily to properly hydrate your body. Dehydration causes severe imbalance in body chemistry.  Some symptoms associated with dehydration include headaches, dry skin and constipation. It also lowers your immune system and makes you prone to frequent respiratory and urinary tract infections, as well as kidney stones.  Drink water at room temperature to avoid being a shock to your body.  Consider adding berries, lime, apple or even cucumber to liven up the taste of water.

Then bring your hands to your heart, keeping eyes closed, and observe your breath cycle for five breaths. Watch it like how you’d observe a bubble passing by. Before opening your eyes, bring an image to your minds eye of something that makes you happy; for examples a loved one or a favorite place in nature. In-joy!
